This is off-topic, but I found your blog when I was messing around on the Internet.
I've been visiting the AV Club for a couple of years now, and I've always enjoyed your comments. They are a breath of fresh air. I'm Black and a woman. As you can imagine, I find a lot of the comments there to be downright nauseating. And I appreciate anyone who tries to challenge the culture there, since few of the writers do. I think they often fall back on the "at least we're not IMDB" or "we're better than most places on the Internet" defense, which is frustrating.
i find racism, homophobia and sexism unacceptable and call 'em out whenever and wherever i see 'em. the idea that av clubbers really think it's somehow ok for them to engage in that stuff because they have degrees on their walls or are being (so they claim) ironic about it rankles me like you wouldn't believe. anyway, you are most sincerely welcome.
say whatever you'd like, any reasonable criticism will be read and (eventually) responded to. unless you're an idiot, in which case i'll delete your post and it will never get published.
